The main road through Creve Coeur, Olive Boulevard, sees a lot of traffic as St. Louis area residents make their way to the various shops and offices. But head off the main road and you’ll find nice, quiet neighborhoods and excellent parks—an ideal place to raise a family. Creve Coeur translates to “broken heart” in French. The neighborhood gets its name from the legend of an Indian princess whose heart was broken by a French trapper. She leapt from a ledge overlooking Creve Coeur Lake, which then reconfigured itself in the shape of a broken heart.

Creve Coeur started out a farming community by the side of a centuries-old Indian trail linking the Mississippi River to the Missouri River. Wagons heading west took settlers and businessmen to new lands. Some, of course, settled in the area, and Creve Coeur today has developed into a thriving town and high-tech destination.

A good middle ground, Creve Coeur makes the morning commute a little easier with centralized access to Interstate 270 and Highway 40.

Community support is prominent throughout the neighborhood, featuring public art and purchasing produce at their very own Farmer’s Market. With the purchase of Creve Coeur ID cards, residents receive discounts at the local golf course, ice arena, and aquaport.

You can find just about anything along Olive Boulevard, Creve Coeur’s main road: shops, restaurants, and a movie theater. A short drive from West County Mall and downtown, the neighborhood is a great host to residents. 

Creve Coeur has a high reputation of schools in the neighborhood. There are three top-rated public districts, Ladue, Parkway, and Pattonville, zoned in the area, as well as nearby private schools. 

Lake School | This 6-acre park features a soccer field, three lighted tennis courts, playground, and the historic Lake School.

Fountain Park | This one-acre park features a playground and plenty of picnic tables for cookouts and parties.

LaVerne Collins Park | This peaceful 1.5-acre park is named for retired City Clerk, LaVerne Collins. Plans to have a paved walking path, gazebo, and flag pole.

Beirne Park | Creve Coeur’s busiest park has something for the whole family. Spanning 7.5 acres, this park features a half-mile paved trail, three tennis courts, soccer field, baseball field, two playgrounds, and picnic pavilion.

Malcolm Terrace Park | This passive park features 25 wooded acres with 1.5 miles of nature trails. The site also features sand volleyball, new playground equipment, and small picnic pavilion. Also featured in the park is, Serenity Grove, a densely planted area with a rock creek and plenty of shaded seating.

Conway Park | This 29-acre park features a one-mile paved path with fitness stations, two tennis courts, tot lot,  and playground. The park also features a wildflower garden and the Clester & Hackmann cabins.

Millennium Park | Creve Coeur's newest 25-acre park. The park includes a playground, pavilion, 2/3 mile paved walking trail, soccer fields, softball and baseball fields.

Creve Coeur Community Center | The community center houses a gymnasium, two meeting rooms, and a multipurpose room.
